Project overview: Re-roof plus rooftop solar installation

Location: Livermore, CA

Scope/size: Replaced wood shake roof on 3,000-square-foot. single-level house and workshop with composition roof. Installed rack-mounted solar system on new roof.

Description: Homeowner sought to reduce both his carbon footprint and his energy costs as he prepared for retirement. Replaced old wood shake roof with lifetime Presidential TL roof, and installed a solar system large enough to meet about 80 percent of his power needs. Also installed all new 7-inch fascia seamless pre-painted galvanized gutters and downspouts.

 

 

 

Products used:
Roof: Lifetime Presidential TL composition shingles.
Solar: The 6.5-kW PV system used 36 Sharp 216w crystalline modules and a SMA SB7000 inverter.
