VentilationAttic ventilation is an important part of a roofing system. It helps to extend the life of a roof, prevent mold, guard against internal temperature extremes and reduces the cost of heating and cooling a home. When PetersenDean installs a roofing system, attic ventilation is a part of the system. For the life of your home, the health of its occupants and the good of the planet, building codes require attic ventilation through the roof. The material your roof is made of—as well as personal preference—will dictate which type of ventilation is right for your home. |
The most common attic vents are:
Dormers – Larger attic vents used where maximum air flow is desired. Available in aluminum, galvanized or copper. Can be used on composition tiles, wood shakes or flat tile roofs |
Eyebrow vent – This low-profile version of the attic dormer vent is used where less air flow is needed. Available in aluminum or galvanized. Can be used on composition tiles, wood shakes or flat tile roofs. |

Attic ridge vent – Allows heat and condensation to escape at the most effective location: the ridge. The low-profile design blends into the roof, thereby eliminating the need for metal vents. |
Custom vents – Can be manufactured according to design specifications. |
Electric attic fans – Attic fan types and sizes are determined on the basis of the particular roof and the structure it covers, for every project has its own air flow requirements. Attic fans can be installed on all roof types. |
