Financing
There are a number of options available for financing commercial solar installations.
- Traditional bank financing: A business entity may draw from a business line of credit or other equity financing with its banking institution.
- No money down options: For those entities that either don’t have sufficient tax liabilities to absorb the tax credits, or choose to use available capital elsewhere, there are two options that require no out-of-pocket expense:
- Leasing: Our leasing partner will assume ownership of the system for a ten year period. You will pay a monthly lease payment that typically is about what you would have paid for your electricity. After the 10-year term you purchase the system at about 20 percent of original value (typical.)
- Power purchase agreement (PPA): A PPA is a structured financing vehicle that allows us to develop a solar energy system for you at no cost, and in turn, offer to you the electricity it produces at a discount. During the term of the agreement, typically 25 years, our PPA partner will own, operate, maintain and insure the solar energy system.
Other financing options may be available for public-sector facilities.
