Around the Community

Since our beginnings, giving back to the communities in which our employees work and live has been a key part of our corporate mission. PetersenDean’s leaders have reinforced this value through their own volunteer efforts and through corporate gifts to community organizations.

Some of our recent community projects include the following:

22nd Annual "Heart of the Home Tour"

PetersenDean is proud to support the "Children's Support League of the East Bay" annual "Heart of the Home Tour" of five beautifully remodeled Piedmont and Oakland Hills homes. Time and expertise is donated by local businesses and homeowners whose efforts make a difference in the lives of local children in need. Since 1986 CSL has donated over $2.3 million to worthy causes.

A new PetersenDean solar system was featured on the stunning historic home pictured below. The 6kW system reduced the electicity bill from $750 to $50 per month. What would you do with the $8400 annual savings?

"Tons of Turkeys" Thanksgiving 2009

In keeping with the PetersenDean tradition of giving back to the community Jay Petersen and Jason Thompson appear on Santa Rosa's KZST Radio to make a Thanksgiving donation of 900lbs (86 birds) to the "Tons of Turkey" food fundraiser at the Redwood Gospel Mission in Santa Rosa. Jay and Jason finished the morning by taking another 74 turkeys to the Sonoma County Office of Education. There the donated turkeys were distributed in classrooms directly to children and their families in need.

Rebuilding Together 2009 in Santa Rosa

PetersenDean's Northern California Santa Rosa office has helped the community by volunteering their time to help repair and reroof a home through the non-profit Rebuilding Together.

To the Rebuilding Together Team,
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the incredible work that you all did on Saturday!  I have to say that originally I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that we had to do but as usual you came through with flying colors!  Sometimes when you are in the midst of the work you don’t get a real sense of what you have accomplished but if you take a look at the attached pictures you start to see the incredible transformation.  Most of you had to leave by the time the homeowner Dorothy Gilbert got home but I can tell you that you she herself was overwhelmed by the work and generosity of such wonderful people.

Just to let you know what you did on Saturday; we were able to replace all the windows in the house with new Milgard vinyl units (20 of them), replace the roof, gutters and downspouts, paint the exterior of the house, clean up the entire property (5 dumpsters worth!) and replant the front yard!  Barry, Steve and Bruce, I don’t have the email addresses for your crews so could you please pass along my heartfelt thanks to them as well. I hope this was as fulfilling a day for you as it was for me and thank you all again for the hard work, time and expertise that you put in on this effort.

Best Regards,

Peter Stanley - ArchiLOGIX

Supporting the Homeless Through HomeAid

PetersenDean is a strong supporter of HomeAid, the nonprofit organization sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Northern California and dedicated to build or renovate shelters for the transitionally homeless. We have chaired its annual Trap Shoot fundraiser since 2006. Held at the Livermore-Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club, Trap Shoot has raised more than $1.1 million since its inception in 2002. We have also worked with the homebuilder community to construct new shelters in Antioch, Hayward and Livermore.

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children

In addition to its cash support for the American Lung Association’s Walk for Asthma, and Southern Nevada’s “Opportunity Village,” which provides jobs and support to those with intellectual and related disabilities, Red Rose, Inc., PetersenDean’s Las Vegas subsidiary, provided labor and materials for the rehabilitation of the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City, Nevada. The project was managed by Pardee Homes in Las Vegas. Read more
